Balham Removals Terms and Conditions

Customer agreeing to Balham removals booking termsThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Balham Removals provides moving and related services to customers in the United Kingdom. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. For clarity, references to the Company, we, us, or our mean Balham Removals, while the customer, you, or your means the person requesting the service, whether acting as an individual, a business, a landlord, or an authorised representative. These terms apply to domestic and commercial removals, loading and unloading assistance, item transport, and associated services unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

1. Scope of Services
We provide moving services that may include packing, loading, transport, unloading, furniture handling, and limited assembly or disassembly where agreed in advance. The exact scope of the Balham removals service will be confirmed in the booking summary, quote, or service order. Any services not expressly included in writing are excluded. We may refuse to move items that are unsafe, unlawful, improperly packaged, or outside the agreed specification. The customer is responsible for ensuring that premises are accessible and that the items to be moved are suitable for transport in line with these terms.

Where a customer requests additional tasks on the day of the move, such as extra packing, carrying, waiting time, or access support, these may be accepted at our discretion and charged accordingly. We reserve the right to decline any request that would materially increase risk, exceed the agreed schedule, or require specialist equipment not previously arranged. A Balham removals agreement only covers the exact work described in the booking confirmation unless we agree to expand it in writing.

Removal team reviewing service quote and access details2. Booking Process
All bookings must be made with accurate information, including collection and delivery addresses, access details, moving date, item descriptions, and any known restrictions. A quote may be provided based on the information supplied, but it is not binding if that information is incomplete or incorrect. We may ask for photographs, inventories, or further details before confirming the booking. A booking is only secured once we issue confirmation and, where required, receive the requested deposit or full prepayment.

Customers must ensure that the booking details reflect the actual move, including the number of floors, parking limitations, lift access, and the presence of fragile, heavy, or oversized items. If the circumstances differ from those disclosed, we may revise the quote, amend timings, or cancel the booking. A Balham Removals booking can also be declined if the requested service is outside our operational capacity or if we consider the job to present unacceptable safety or legal risks.

By confirming a booking, you authorise us to rely on the information provided. If you act on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have their authority to do so and that they are aware of these terms. Any amendments requested after confirmation are subject to availability and may incur an administration charge or revised service fee. We aim to keep the Balham removals booking process straightforward, but accuracy and timely communication remain essential.

3. Prices and Payments
Prices are based on the information available at the time of quoting and may be fixed, hourly, or subject to a combination of both, depending on the nature of the work. Unless otherwise stated, quotes are exclusive of any unexpected additional charges, including waiting time, congestion-related delays, extended carrying distances, parking costs, additional labour, or disposal fees. Where the price is estimated, the final amount may vary if the actual work differs from the agreed scope.

Invoice and payment details for a removals servicePayment terms will be confirmed during the booking stage. We may request a deposit to reserve the date, with the balance payable on or before completion of the service. We accept payment by methods notified in advance and may require cleared funds before unloading or release of goods. If a payment is overdue, we may charge interest and recover reasonable costs of collection to the extent permitted by law. A Balham removals service is not considered fully completed until all outstanding sums have been paid.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that any invoice disputes are raised promptly and with clear supporting information. Any undisputed part of an invoice must still be paid by the due date. If we agree to provide extras during the move, those charges will be added to the final invoice unless agreed otherwise. We reserve the right to suspend or refuse future services where previous invoices remain unpaid or where a card payment is reversed or declined after service delivery.

4. Cancellations, Postponements, and Delays
You may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving us notice in writing or by another method we accept. Cancellation charges may apply depending on how much notice is given and whether the work has already started. If you cancel at short notice, fail to provide access, or are not ready for collection at the agreed time, we may charge a reasonable cancellation or waiting fee and recover any costs already incurred. Any deposit paid may be retained in whole or in part to cover losses, administration, and reserved capacity.

We may cancel or postpone a booking if unsafe conditions exist, if access is restricted, if payment conditions are not met, if false information was supplied, or if circumstances beyond our control prevent performance. Where possible, we will offer a revised date or alternative arrangement. We are not liable for losses arising from delays caused by traffic, weather, strikes, road closures, or other events outside our reasonable control. A Balham removals cancellation policy is designed to reflect fairness to both parties and the practical reality of scheduling moving services.

Where a delay occurs because the customer has not obtained building permissions, reserved parking, cleared access, or arranged required keys, we may charge for waiting time or overtime. If we are unable to complete the service due to customer-side issues, the move may be deemed cancelled once the vehicle and staff are on site. In that event, the customer remains responsible for the agreed charges and any additional costs reasonably incurred. We recommend that all arrangements are verified in advance to avoid disruption.

5. Customer Responsibilities
The customer must ensure that all items are packed securely unless we have agreed to provide packing as part of the service. Fragile items, valuables, perishable goods, cash, jewellery, documents, and sentimental items should be kept separate unless otherwise agreed in writing. It is your responsibility to inform us of any items requiring special handling, including antiques, artwork, pianos, or hazardous materials. A Balham removals company cannot be expected to assess hidden risks where the customer has not disclosed them.

The customer must confirm that all items placed into our care are lawfully owned or lawfully transferred for transport. You must also ensure that no prohibited, dangerous, or illicit goods are handed over. If we suspect that an item is unsafe, unlawful, or improperly declared, we may refuse to carry it or may isolate it pending further instruction. Where goods are packed by the customer, we are not responsible for damage arising from inadequate packing, insufficient labelling, or incorrect container choice.

The customer should be present, or represented by an authorised adult, at both collection and delivery unless we have agreed a different process in writing. You are also responsible for giving clear instructions regarding access, delivery placement, and any priority items. If you instruct us to leave items unattended, place them in a specified area, or hand them to a third party, you do so at your own risk unless we expressly agree otherwise.

6. Liability and Insurance
We will take reasonable care when handling your belongings and property. However, our liability is limited to loss or damage caused by our proven negligence and only to the extent permitted by UK law. We are not liable for pre-existing defects, ordinary wear and tear, inadequate packaging, inherent vice, or damage arising from items that are fragile by nature unless we have expressly accepted responsibility in writing. Where services involve manual handling, some minor cosmetic marks or scuffs may occur despite reasonable care.

Any claim for loss or damage must be reported to us as soon as reasonably possible and supported by evidence, such as photographs, receipts, or an inventory, where available. We may require the damaged item to be retained for inspection. Our liability, if established, may be limited to repair, replacement, or the reasonable depreciated value of the item, depending on the circumstances and any applicable insurance terms. A Balham Removals claim will not automatically entitle the customer to new-for-old replacement unless such cover has been agreed.

We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of earnings, loss of business, missed appointments, or loss of enjoyment, except where such exclusion is prohibited by law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Customers are encouraged to arrange their own appropriate insurance for high-value items, especially where the item’s condition, age, or fragility makes it particularly vulnerable.

Waste handling and compliant disposal arrangements7. Waste Regulations and Disposal
If we are asked to remove unwanted items, packaging, or waste, such work will be carried out only if lawful and expressly agreed. The customer must identify any waste accurately and must not include hazardous, contaminated, electrical, or restricted materials unless we have confirmed that we can lawfully handle them. We operate in accordance with applicable UK waste legislation, including the requirement to avoid unlawful disposal and to ensure that waste is transferred only to authorised facilities or handlers where relevant.

Under waste regulations, the customer remains responsible for declaring the nature of the waste and for ensuring that it is not mixed with materials requiring specialist treatment. If we believe items have been misdescribed, we may refuse collection or charge additional fees for segregation, handling, and compliant disposal. A Balham removals waste collection arrangement does not permit the disposal of prohibited substances, asbestos, clinical waste, pressurised containers, chemicals, or other regulated materials unless expressly agreed and lawfully permitted.

Where we remove waste, we may issue or retain records relating to the transfer, transport, or disposal process as required by law. The customer agrees to cooperate with any lawful request for information concerning the origin, type, or ownership of waste materials. If the customer provides items that are illegal to transport or dispose of, or if they fail to disclose the true nature of the waste, the customer will be responsible for all resulting losses, penalties, and compliance costs. We reserve the right to reject any waste that presents a health, safety, or legal risk.

8. Access, Property, and Parking
Customers must secure all permissions needed for vehicle access, loading bay use, parking, lift reservation, and entry to both premises. We are not responsible for fines, clamp charges, or delays resulting from the customer’s failure to arrange suitable access, unless the issue is caused by our own fault. Where parking permits or building approvals are required, the customer must organise them in advance. If access conditions change on the day of the move, additional charges may apply and timings may need to be adjusted.

We may refuse to carry items through unsafe, unsanitary, or structurally unsuitable areas. If we believe that an access route could damage property or pose a risk to people or goods, we may require an alternative route or pause the work until the problem is resolved. A Balham removals service depends on safe and lawful access, and the customer accepts that delays caused by access issues can affect completion times and cost estimates.

The customer is also responsible for ensuring that pathways, stairwells, and loading areas are clear of obstructions. We may move items only where there is sufficient space and safe manual handling conditions. Where access is exceptionally restricted, we may use subcontractors, specialist equipment, or a revised operational plan, but only if agreed in advance. Any additional cost arising from these changes will be payable by the customer.

9. Subcontracting and Staff
We may perform services using our own employees, self-employed operatives, or approved subcontractors. Any person acting on our behalf will be expected to follow these terms and to act with reasonable skill and care. We may substitute personnel where necessary for operational reasons, provided the service standard remains broadly comparable. The customer may not direct our staff to work in an unsafe manner or to undertake tasks that were not agreed as part of the booking.

Our staff may refuse to move items that they reasonably believe to be unsafe, too heavy, poorly packaged, or likely to damage property or other goods. They may also stop work temporarily if they consider that a health and safety issue has arisen. We reserve the right to record job details, such as inventory notes or condition observations, for operational and claims-handling purposes. These records help support a fair and orderly Balham removals operation.

If you engage a third party to assist with the move, their actions and instructions are your responsibility unless we have agreed to coordinate with them in writing. We are not liable for damage caused by third parties, building staff, or other contractors not under our control. Any coordination we provide is for convenience only and does not create liability for acts outside our supervision.

10. Governing Law and General Terms
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or in connection with a booking or service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless consumer law requires otherwise. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. No failure or delay by us in enforcing a right shall operate as a waiver of that right.

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. The version in force at the time of booking will normally apply to that booking unless a later written agreement states otherwise. If a customer enters into a Balham Removals contract on behalf of another party, they warrant that they are authorised to do so and accept joint responsibility for compliance with these terms where applicable.

Final terms and conditions agreement for removals serviceBy proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read these terms carefully and that you agree to be bound by them. These terms are intended to protect both parties by setting clear expectations for service scope, payment, cancellation, liability, waste handling, and legal compliance. If any issue is not covered here, we will act reasonably and in accordance with applicable UK law and standard industry practice.
